After a couple of EPs and single, we now discover an eclectic album. Going from electronic to pop with a little bit of sound experimentation, Gwenno delivers a solid performance on her debut album.
Sung entirely in Welsh, Y Dydd Olaf ( The Last Time) taking directly it’s inspiration from novellist Owain Owain. With sweet melodies accompanied by the beautiful poetic accent, we travel into a strange experimental world. Sometimes slow and melancholic, sometimes more “dancey” and upbeat, the record brings us in a new musical dimension.
Brilliantly produced by Rhys Edwards, we entered in a kind of futuristic revolution lyrically, speaking mostly about how to deal with new technologies, the brand new culture of the 2000’s.
It’s definitely a “must-have” record this year.
