Slow Club/The Wave Pictures/Casiokids live

Finally the review…

Moshi Moshi Showcase 009On August 6th, I decided to go to Sala Rossa in Montreal. They were presenting there three outstanding artists from the UK/Europe scene, all from the same label, Moshi Moshi coming right out from London UK. In the past, Moshi Moshi signed the likes of Bloc Party, Florence and the Machine and so much more. For their 10th year, they did a mini US/Canada tour and they stopped by Montreal to present us three bands from their roster: The Wave Pictures, Slow Club and Casiokids.

The Wave Pictures began their set near 9pm. They brought us great pop, folk, indie all mixed up together. They played most of their latest album ”If you leave it alone” songs which was brilliant. TheMoshi Moshi Showcase 022y had great presence on stage, it was perfect for them to be in this tiny venue. People in the crowd seemed to really like and enjoy the tracks.

Then, Slow Club from Sheffield hit the stage. This duet formed by Beccy and Charles did a really great performance despite the fact that Charles broke strings on his guitar. So they played the softer melodies songs from their album Yeah So . Loved the set which was perfect for the folk music amateur. Think White Stripes, but in a softer version.

Moshi Moshi Showcase 035 To end the gig, there was another band, from Norway this time…Complete beat change though. The venue got dancey with Casiokids electro beats of Fot I Hose and other tracks. It was a real party at the Sala.

Three great bands. One great night in Montreal!
